If you are a paediatric health worker

Medical Doctor, Psychologist, Speech and Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Dietitian, Physiotherapist - a health professional from any discipline!

and you

are curious about neuro-affirming practices

are interested in social justice

want to use your clinical skills to create deep and lasting change in the way we, as a society, care for autistic children and young people

perhaps you

are transitioning, or ready to transition to neuro-affirming practices

understand the principles, but want help with the practical application

You are in the right place.

Did you know?

The Psychology Board of Australia - that's the regulating body for psychologists in Australia - has released competencies making neuro-affirming practices a requirement for psychologists from 2025.

If the Psychology Board of Australia have introduced this competency, it’s reasonable to expect that the regulating bodies for other professions will follow.

My name is Valli Jones

I'm an autistic clinical psychologist, and I work with neurodivergent young people.

My goal is to improve the mental health of autistic young people by equipping parents and professionals with a framework for providing truly neuro-affirming supports.

I'm excited to share it with you.

And I am making an exceptional offer at the moment.

You see, I’m building The Safe House Framework® Foundation Team.

That’s a team of health professionals from a range of disciplines who have completed all three levels of The Safe House Framework® training.

It doesn't matter where you work, or what your role is.

If you have an interest in social justice, and want to learn how we can change the trajectory for autistic young people, then please read on...

What is The Safe House Framework®?

Put very simply, it's a way to organise your thinking around how to best support your autistic clients or patients.

The Neurodiversity Movement is a human rights movement.

The neuro-affirming approach is a set of principles and practices that centre and uphold the rights of neurodivergent humans.

The Safe House Framework® guides the implementation of affirming principles and practices.

The framework is transdisciplinary.

It fits around your clinical skills set, gently guiding and shaping the way you use your clinical skills in your work with neurodivergent young people.

Whatever your role, The Safe House Framework® is relevant, and adaptable.

The training for health professionals is part of a system for collaboration.

There is a Safe House Framework® program for each member of a young person’s team, and the programs are designed to complement each other, and facilitate meaningful collaboration.

So what’s inside The Safe House for Health Professionals?

There are three levels within the program.

In Level One, I introduce my framework for nurturing and supporting autistic young people, using the simple analogy of building a safe house around a child.

Over 8 modules, you will develop a deep and nuanced understanding of the autistic experience, through the lens of the neurodiversity paradigm.

Contains just over 4 hours of video, 7 case studies, and a 100+ page workbook

One of the big ideas in Level One is understanding how the autistic nervous system is different, and why safety is important.

Here's a quick overview.

Level two is where I show you how I apply the framework.

It's full of step-by-step practical guidance, so there’s no guesswork.

The what, why, and how are all laid out.

Contains 2 hours of video, a self-assessment process, and a 40+ page workbook.

Beyond the practical steps, there is a lot

introspection and reflection.

I'll help you get clear on what you bring to the therapeutic relationship, both naturally, and by design.

This is the internal work of a paradigm shift.

I'll be here to support you

Level Three is a live masterclass called Critical Thinking for the Affirming Clinician.

We'll unpack the limitations of evidence-based practice when working with neurodivergent young people, explore the elements of values-based practice, and work through case scenarios in multidisciplinary teams .

6 hours, live online

It's everything I've learned about establishing safety within the therapeutic relationship, and beyond - safety, the essence of affirming care.

PLUS

You'll have access monthly live group sessions throughout the program, and beyond, where you can:

Connect with aligned practitioners

Learn from each other in a supportive environment.

Reflect on your professional practice

.

An hour each month

After the Masterclass...

You'll be invited to join The Safe House Practitioner Network.

Connect with a multidisciplinary network of aligned practitioners

and access the support of an online community

PLUS

Parent education is at the heart of The Safe House Methodology.

I want to make it easy for you, so...

The Safe House program for parents is 100% free

and Level One of the Health Professional program mirrors the Parent program.

Wondering what that looks like?

This is a screen shot of the eight modules that are within both programs.

The structure is identical, so it’s easy to guide parents towards relevant pieces of education.

Each module works through the same process: Learn Practice, Apply, Reflect.

This is a screenshot of the lessons within the first module.

In all the modules, the Learn lessons are almost identical in both programs.

The Practice and Apply lessons are very similar.

The Reflection question are different.

To give parents access to the Parent Program, simply share a link or QR code.

Parents can do the whole program, or specific lessons you suggest

so you can be sure you're all on the same page.

The Safe House Framework® is a comprehensive and holistic professional development program.

And it's more than that.

It is a system I have thoughtfully designed to help teams work together to nurture and support autistic young people.

Because it takes a village, and we're better together.

If this resonates with you...

I am inviting health professionals from all disciplines with a wide range of skill sets, including, but not limited to:

Communication

Sensory processing

Daily Living

Mental Health

...all the things

to join The Safe House Foundation Team.
